For some years, consumers have been able to choose their electricity supplier freely, negotiating the contractual conditions according to their consumption and personal needs.
By exercising this right you enter the Free Market, thanks to which it is possible to select the most suitable and convenient offer.
This choice is free and does not provide for any penalty in case of withdrawal or obligations other than those provided for in the contract.

The Enhanced Protection Service guarantees the consumer the supply of electricity and gas at the economic and contractual conditions established by the Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and Environment (ARERA). In the Free Market these conditions are established by the chosen supplier, while the amounts relating to “Meter transport and management costs”, “System charges” and taxes, are defined by ARERA, for both markets.

This item in the bill refers to the amounts invoiced for the activities carried out by the seller to supply electricity and is the only amount established by the seller in the supply contract.
The total amount is divided into a fixed amount, expressed in €/year, charged even in the absence of consumption, and an energy share, expressed in €/kWh, charged in proportion to the consumption made. In the Enhanced Protection Service this amount is established, for each quarter, by the ARERA (Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and Environment).

Dispatching costs refer to the cost of transporting and managing the meter, including all amounts invoiced for the activities carried out by the local distributor and the system fees to cover costs relating to activities of general interest and of a national nature for the electricity system.
The cost of these activities is periodically established by the ARERA (Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and Environment)) for both the Free Market and the Enhanced Protection Market.

After switching to the Free Market, you can return to the Enhanced Protection Service at any time, exercising your right of withdrawal in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the contract.

The POD (Point of Delivery) is an alphanumeric code (consisting of 14 or 15 characters) which identifies the physical position of the meter and which does not change even in case of a new energy supplier. It always starts with “IT” (Italy), contains the letter “E” (national convention to indicate the supply of electricity) and certainly identifies the point of withdrawal namely the physical point where the energy is delivered by the seller and withdrawn by the end customer.
You can find the POD code on your supply contract or on your bill.
This is a necessary data to enter the free energy market.

The utility transfer is a change of registration of the electricity contract without interruption of service. The cost depends on the supplier chosen, except for “mortis causa” requests.

A new activation is required when the meter has never been activated or has been deactivated by the previous owner. The cost depends on the supplier. Once all the necessary documents have been sent, the meter is activated in a maximum of 5 working days.

Deactivation means the termination of the contract with consequent interruption of the electricity supply. The cost of the operation depends on the supplier and is recommended in order to avoid charges after the closure of a business or a change of residence.

Once all the necessary documents have been sent, the meter is deactivated in a maximum of 10 working days.

The payment of the RAI Fee in the electricity bill of the residence is a consequence of the application of the 2016 Stability Law.
Its application in the bill is the exclusive competence of the Revenue Agency, which can be contacted for the appropriate checks relating to cancellations, refunds or exemptions.
If non-payment of the amounts related to the Fee is detected, the customer is informed with a notice in the invoice; in no case the non-payment involves the detachment of the electricity supply.
